Today, the resored house has a wealth of original Cedarwood doors and Cape antique furniture.

This charming cottage was the original Jonkershuis. ("Young man's house" - typically the second house on a Cape Dutch farmstead, built for the eldest son). Later it was also used as a place of worship for Sunday readings from the Book of Sermons sent out from Europe, in the absence of a priest in the valley, hence its name.

Sometimes lovingly referred to as the 'Honeymoon Suite' because of its private, romantic setting and antique Yellowwood double bed, the one-bedroom cottage is just a stone's throw away from the orange orchards, with views over a pastoral landscape, complete with the obligatory cows and donkeys in the sanctuary. Quaintly buttressed, meter-thick walls support the exposed thatched roof over the open hearth fireplace, creating a warm, intimate atmopshere.

Home to Thomas Bain and his family during the construction of Grey's Pass from 1855 to 1857, this rustic cottage in the shadow of the old pass is the "getaway from it all" choice on the farm. It is set at the head of the Groote Cloof (Great Valley), next to the river amongst fynbos and olive groves.

Two bedrooms under beamed ceilings and thatch roof share a rietdak bathroom with shower and bath. The verandah encompasses views from deep in the kloof over the dam to the mountains beyond. Sunrise does not get more beautiful than here!

The authentic kitchen with its beamed hearth and grain mortar in the floor, now using gas for the modern appliances. Hot water comes from a solar panel, as does electricity for the lights.
