KERKHUISIE

Capacity: 2 • Number of rooms: 1 • Number of bathrooms: 1

This charming cottage was the original Jonkershuis. ("Young man's house" - typically the second house on a Cape Dutch farmstead, built for the eldest son). Later, it was also used as a place of worship for Sunday readings from the Book of Sermons sent out from Europe, in the absence of a priest in the valley, hence its name. ("Church Cottage")

Sometimes lovingly referred to as the 'Honeymoon Suite' because of its private, romantic setting and antique Yellowwood double bed, the one-bedroom cottage is just a stone's throw away from the orange orchards, with views over a pastoral landscape, complete with the obligatory cows and donkeys in the sanctuary. Quaintly buttressed, meter-thick walls support the exposed thatched roof over the open hearth fireplace, creating a warm, intimate atmosphere.

This cottage has 1 bedroom and is ideal for a romantic getaway. The bedroom is furnished with a double bed while the bathroom has a shower. Guests are provided with linen and towels. The kitchen is equipped with a stove, fridge, and microwave. A fireplace is available in the living area. The unit has a patio with braai facilities and offers views of the valley.
