Modderfontein is primarily a producer of lemons for the overseas market, and with 145,000 trees, is the largest organic citrus farm in South Africa. Fruit is also supplied to the smallish local organic market.
Olives are also grown. The mixture of Italian varieties Leccino, Frantoio, Coratina, plus Mission, produces a superb Extra Virgin oil which is available for sale on the farm, and at various retail outlets.
The 2500ha farm also produces Rooibos tea, cattle, and buchu is harvested in the mountains.
